“This programme looks at the 22-mile branch line which was formed in the 1860s with Isambard Kingdom Brunel heading the efforts to construct the line to reach Watchet to link up with his Bristol & Exeter Railway running to the southwest.

With archive film and contemporary footage, we examine the route in detail station by station and then continue to view the reopening of the line closed by BR in 1971 which initially operated to Dunster and Blue Anchor in 1976.  The full route to Bishops Lydeard opened to steam-hauled services by 1979 following agreement with Somerset Country Council who had purchased the land and buildings from BR. See the many steam locomotives to operate the branch and the many galas which included heritage diesels.”
